The starting point
Hertfordshire Garden Design do beautiful work, but the old website did not show it. It was badly out of date, with no life in the design.
We started with a design phase to bring it back to life. Then we planned and built the new website. It took six weeks from the first plan to going live.
How it went
Hertfordshire Garden Design came to us with a website that was badly out of date, with no life in the design. We began with a design phase to bring it back to life. Then we planned and built the new website. It took six weeks from the first plan to going live.
The work carried on after launch. We run local Google Ads for them, we worked on their Google Business Profile, and the site is on a care plan. They also have a consulting package for questions, and we help with small projects as they come up.
Oliver Franks says "our website management and SEO service has been first class from start to finish". He says "His work is always completed on schedule".
What we did
-
A new website of 15 pages
With a portfolio and case studies that show the finished gardens properly. For a design business, the pictures are the pitch. Good ones do the persuading before anyone gets in touch.
-
Local pages and local SEO
Pages for the areas they cover, so people searching nearby can find them. A page written for a real place speaks to people there, and it gives search engines a clear idea of where you work.
-
A stronger Google Business Profile
We worked on their profile so they show up well on Google Maps. If you work in one area, maps are a big part of how people look for you.
-
Local Google Ads
We run adverts aimed at people nearby who are searching for garden design. Adverts reach people who are searching right now, but they need watching so money is not wasted.
-
Website management and SEO
Oliver Franks describes this service as "first class from start to finish". A site that is looked after keeps working for the business long after launch.
-
Help whenever they need it
The site is on a care plan. They also have a consulting package for questions, and we help with small projects as they come up. Having someone to ask saves a lot of time.
The results
Hertfordshire Garden Design has a new website of 15 pages, local pages, a stronger Google Business Profile and local adverts. We also give them steady help with their marketing. Oliver wrote: "We have developed our business over the last few years in no small part thanks to Darren".
“Darren has been professional, creative and our website management and SEO service has been first class from start to finish. We have developed our business over the last few years in no small part thanks to Darren and his ability to complete projects to a high standard at an affordable cost. He is easy to work with and listens to the clients needs and delivers time and time again. His work is always completed on schedule and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.”
Advice
If your website was built years ago and no longer does your work justice, a new look is only part of the answer. Start with the work itself. Choose your best finished jobs, photograph them well and let the pictures lead the page. Short notes on what you did for each customer help people picture the same thing in their own space.
Then think about where your customers are. If you work in one area, write pages for the real towns and villages you cover. Say something true about each place. Copying the same text onto every page does not help anyone and can work against you.
Look after your Google Business Profile. Keep your details right, add photos and reply to reviews. For a local business, this is often one of the first things a new customer sees.
If you try adverts, start small and be clear about what you want a click to do. Send people to the page that matches what they searched for, and check the results often. Adverts can work well, but they need watching. Finally, have someone you can ask when questions come up. A website is never really finished.
