A website that shows the shares left in every horse
How we built a website that shows every horse and the shares left in each one.

About Hasmonean Racing
Hasmonean Racing is a racehorse syndicate based in St Albans, with its horses at trainer James Ferguson’s yard in Newmarket. Co founders Oliver and Dean have owned winners and offer small shares in each horse. They limit every horse to 20 owners and send regular video and written updates.

The starting point
Dean and Ollie started Hasmonean Racing, a racehorse syndicate. They needed a website to show their horses and the shares available in each one.
It had to stay right as shares sold, so buyers always see what is left.
How it went
Dean and Ollie started a racehorse syndicate and needed a website that showed their horses and the shares available in each one. We built it so that as shares sell, the site shows what is left.
They say Darren "was always available to answer any questions or concerns that we had" and "provided us with regular updates on the progress of the project". They say the project was "delivered on time and within budget".
The work did not stop at the website. We keep adding to the site as the business grows, and it is on a care plan. Dean and Ollie say Darren "went above and beyond to help us with more than just the website".
What we did
-
A website built for racing
A smart, easy to use site that suits the sport. A website should feel like the business behind it. Someone thinking about joining a syndicate wants to feel they are dealing with people who take racing seriously.
-
Horse listings that keep themselves up to date
As shares in a horse sell, the website shows what is left. When what you offer changes, an out of date page costs trust. Showing the real position helps buyers decide with confidence.
-
New features as they grow
We keep adding to the site as the business grows. A website is not finished on launch day. A business learns what it needs as it goes, and the site should be able to keep up.
-
Looked after every month
The site is on a care plan. Someone looking after the site means it stays working while you get on with the business.
The results
Hasmonean Racing has a website that shows every horse and the shares left in each one. The site is on a care plan and keeps growing with the business. Dean and Ollie wrote that the extra work "changed the online presence of the company altogether".
“One of the things that stood out to me the most was Darren’s communication skills. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns that we had and provided us with regular updates on the progress of the project. This level of communication helped us to stay on track and ensured that the project was delivered on time and within budget. In addition to his outstanding communication skills, Darren went above and beyond to help us with more than just the website. He actually did so much extra that it changed the online presence of the company altogether.”
Advice
If part of your business changes often, such as places, stock or shares, think early about how your website will stay right. A page that someone has to remember to edit will get out of date sooner or later. Ask about this at the start, before anything is built.
Decide who is in charge of the numbers. One person should know what is true today, and the website should reflect that. If two people each keep their own list, the page will not match for long.
Show customers the real position, even when the news is not good. If something has sold out, say so clearly. People trust a business that tells them where things stand, and they will usually ask about the next one.
Make it easy to ask a question. Put a clear way to get in touch next to anything people might want to buy or join. Then plan for growth. The first version of a site will not hold every idea you have. Leave room to add new features as the business learns what it needs.
